BacIstorie

Helping Romanian high-schoolers walk into their history Bacalaureat exam prepared, not panicked.

iOS 17+ · iPhone, iPad, Mac & Apple Vision Free, with optional Pro No data collected

A mandatory exam, a huge syllabus, and no single place to actually practice

The Bacalaureat is the exam every Romanian student has to pass to graduate high school, and History is one of its two mandatory subjects. The official syllabus spans 12 historical epochs — from the formation of the medieval Romanian states to the 1989 revolution — and most students still prepare for it the way generations before them did: a stack of PDFs, a printed manual, and whatever practice tests a teacher hands out.

That leaves a student with no real way to know, the night before the exam, whether they actually know the material or just recognize it. There was no single place to drill multiple-choice questions with instant feedback, memorize the dates and names that trip everyone up, and rehearse the exam itself under its real 3-hour time limit.

One focused app, four study modes that reinforce each other

BacIstorie consolidates the entire syllabus into a single native iOS app, built around study modes that work together instead of each just reformatting the same PDF.
